The Fish Creek Valley Print

The Fish Creek Valley watercolor was done in 1875 by an unknown, possibly itinerant, artist and painted on a grain bag or flour sack.  It is a view along Highway J looking north toward Rockland, the small town where my beloved Grandma Gladys lived.
All that is left of the barn in the foreground is the brick foundation, and the white church, the Fish Creek Valley Presbyterian Church, was where my mother, her sister, brothers and cousin were baptized.  The church was struck by lightning and destroyed by fire many years ago.  The painting is special because I recognized the valley when I first saw it hanging on the wall at the Bangor Area Historical Society museum.  The scene is a beautiful view of a valley in the Coulee Region and the print is for sale for $45.  All profits go to the renovation of the Old Baptist Church in Bangor.
